From New York Times bestselling novelist Joshilyn Jackson comes an e-original short story that gives a fierce and funny character from Someone Else's Love Story a standalone adventure all her own.
Shandi Pierce got pregnant when she was only seventeen years old. She fell for her son—deeply, instantly, completely—but as she sat at the table feeding him, her own mother was sliding eggs and bacon onto her plate, feeding her.
Now, four years later, Shandi is still more parented than parent. She lives with her mom, her dad pays her bills, and her best friend, Walcott, acts as her white knight. But Natty is no ordinary kid, and when his savant behavior catches the attention of an obsessive stranger, only Shandi sees the true menace.
To protect her son, Shandi must grow up—fast—and find an answer to the question, how can a girl remake herself into a mother?

WHOA! I was a Jackson- virgin.... now I'm hooked!!!
By CRICKET
36% into this story, I dropped my kindle to text a friend to tell her she had to read this as soon as possible. It's a straight- up great- read!!! It's subtly FUNNY one moment, then laugh out loud funny a second later. THEN, it's everyday-real-but super interesting, and then Bam!-you're like- WTF!?!WHAT???-where is this taking me?- but it all goes somewhere, and Jackson Writes it is such a satisfying way. SO COOL.
I have to work early in the morning, and I am not going to get any sleep because I couldn't put this book down! And I don't regret it at all, ...and I CHERISH sleep.
DECEMBER cannot come soon enough- !!!wow.
Sorry for for being so candid, I am just So happy to have found a really exciting read- lately books have been "same old" , either in writing style or subject matter- and this one is just REFRESHING, and awesome.

A Stunning Appetizer!
By JMyersbook
As a general rule, I am not a big fan of short stories, but I am a big fan of a Joshilyn Jackson's writing, and this story does not disappoint. The fact that it is a prequel to her new, soon-to-be-released novel, Someone Else's Love Story, coming in December, makes it all the sweeter. If you haven't yet read a book by Joshilyn Jackson, thus short story is the perfect appetizer. If you have already read her work, don't miss this latest adventure of the human heart and mind.

Tie In with Somebody Else's Love Story...more character development for some of the principals
By Vermeer fan
My Own Miraculous is a direct tie in with the author's stand alone novel which is to be released this week, Someone Else's Love Story. Shandi is the narrator of the tale, a single teenage mother of a 3 year old, who joins her best buddy Walcott at her former high school's blood drive. While they wait for their turn in line, Natty, the three year old, runs around the gym where the blood drive is set up, entertaining himself. And that's when he demonstrates his new found ability to not only read letters on the spirit banner on the opposite wall but actually read the words spelled out there--in front of the nurses and all the locals. And one not so local, a teenager from Atlanta whose family has rented a cabin for the week, who smells of crazy and fixates on Natty as the key to her own personal redemption.
This short story gives you some wonderful backstory on one of the more beguiling characters in SELS. And as always with Ms Jackson's characters, teaches you a little life lesson as well. To truly appreciate the tale, it helps to have read SELS or to follow up with SELS, as it gives the story more color and shading. Loved the chance to learn more about characters that inhabit SELS, some of the author's most appealing and relatable principals.
